MTJS Show #41 Dominique Stephens (Scientists who Lift)

Published: Nov. 25, 2017, 4:19 p.m.

What does it take to become a Ph.D candidate in a STEM related field when society tells you that you're a statistic? You're a young, black male who's NOT suppose to succeed! You should be incarcerated or dead!.........Says WHO?!
Hear how Dominique Stephens was able to dispel the myth that young black males aren't capable of learning. He will share how he earned his BS in Chemistry (Butler University) and MS in Biophysical Chemistry (Georgia State University) all while breaking stereotypes within his department. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Biochemistry. He is also a competitive powerlifter and founder of the brand Scientists Who Lift.

Don't believe the hype! When you hear these stereotypes of our men, we have to TUNE THEM OUT and turn on the POSITIVE messages that WE KNOW ARE TRUE! Not all of our men are in jail, dead or drug dealers. As a matter of fact, we have a lot of brillant minds walking around the streets of AMERICA that just simply need to be given the chance to SHINE and let it be known that they are SMART and INTELLIGENT! They are not an ENDANGERED SPECIES.
