Low staffing and high call volumes have plagued EMS since before anyone knew what COVID was, I myself left the first responder world behind at the end of 2019 due to burn out and mental health concerns, but now it's worse than ever. This conversation with Michael Marasco, a national representative for an international organization that negotiates for EMTs and paramedics to have better working conditions, pay and the support they need to provide us with emergency care, sheds light on how your local EMS providers may be struggling and what you can do to get involved with helping them help you.\\xa0
