Minimum Wage Debate Could Influence Election

There are an increasing number of working poor people in southeastern Ohio, a region hit hard by closings in the manufacturing industry, and where most of the new jobs are minimum wage work. If it succeeds, a ballot measure in November would raise the minimum wage to from $5.15 to $6.85 in Ohio. Democrats in Ohio, and in the six others states that have similar minimum wage initiatives, hope this will mean more Democratic voters go to the polls.
