Mourners lined the streets to pay their final respects to former president Gerald R. Ford Tuesday as the 38th president's cortege made its way to the Washington National Cathedral for a state funeral service. Inside, political leaders and Washington luminaries paid tribute to the man who president Bush reflected "was elevated to the presidency... because America needed him."
