Gun Safety:

Storage vs. Staging

\\n

With Gun Safety being such an important topic, it only makes sense that we take some time to consider how we deal with our firearms when they are not in our direct control.

\\n

The steps we take to protect ourselves and others from those unauthorized users that may attempt to access our firearms depends on the specific use of those guns. \\xa0I divide the two different security protocols into the categories Storage and Staging.

\\n

What is the difference between Storage and Staging?

\\n

Understanding terminology can be an important aspect of safety. \\xa0Of course the concepts are more important that the words that label those concepts and today I want to talk about the concepts behind the terms Storage and Staging.

\\n

Storage is what it has always been, the methods you use to secure your guns when they are not in use. \\xa0If you aren\'t out in the woods hunting, your hunting rifle is stored securely at home (I hope...)

\\n

Staging is a term I first heard from Rob Pincus of I.C.E. Training and it specifically describes the methods that are recommended for securing your defensive firearms when you are depending on them for home defense.
