Things have been really heating up in Spain over the independence referendum passed by Catalonia's people nearly a month ago. The president of Catalonia both declared that Catalonia had the right to secede from Spain and then immediately made it clear that he wouldn’t actually be seceding. Instead, he asked to negotiate with the Spanish central government “to arrive at an agreed solution to advance with the demands of the people of Catalonia" before demanding independence.
