People will respond to that. In WWII, the US had to supply Australia and Great Britain.  Note that a lot of Americans had German and Italian ancestors, and the Irish weren’t well disposed toward the Britons; FDR pointed out that this wasn’t a question of ethnicity but of the survival of democracy.  Two weeks ago tomorrow, in the first big press conference with HHS Secretary and others, the Secretary said they’d have enough test kits in a week, but didn’t realize how complex the process was – no one had any reason to know that this could be a problem on the scale it is, due to the mendacity of the Chinese. If the antimalarial drug is effective, that’ll be very good because  there are supplies of that.  After all the terrible political strife there’s been, the country is pulling together and the govt is doing its absolute impartial best. Recall that FDR was an extremely controversial figure throughout his terms; the press attacks never stopped. The daily presentations are exhausting President Trump.  He might leave some of them to the vice-president. He’s made his point that he’s in charge. He has no obligation to run himself down physically.    FDR: “Dr Win-the-War”   Sixty years later, the last lend-lease payment.  “The arsenal of democracy” 29 Dec 1944
