We can get lost in policy discussions when what’s more relevant is that the two nations have grow together in the last decade:  Security and technology pull the two nations together, not just regionally but globally. Consider the [projects] on which the two have worked together.  The only equally close security partner is Great Britain; but in technology, there’s no better partner in the world—especially in cyber (US, Russia, China, and Israel are at the top).   The Abraham Accords. Sunni and Shi’a radical movements.  US is reducing its military footprint in the Middle East: this amplifies Israel’s position vis-à-vis the US.    Ambassador Ron Dermer was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. He earned a degree in finance and management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a degree in philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) from Oxford University. For three years, he was a columnist for the Jerusalem Post.
