Image: Senate Chamber   Victor Davis Hanson: @VDHanson; Hoover Institution, and The Case for Trump,in re:   I guess they think they can break new legal ground in impeaching a president after he’s become a private citizen.  Nothing in the Constitution suggests this is possible. Chuck Schumer intends to put it on the Senate calendar—he who screamed on the Supreme Court steps: “Gorsuch, Kavenaugh, you’ll reap the whirlwind and won't know what hit you.”  President Trump no longer has twitter to communicate. The Democrats had him as a piñata; hatred of him was almost all that held the party together.  We’ll see one of the most radical periods in American history.       Democrats say: We’ll want to move faster than last year’s process; “not weeks.” They’re planning more than a retrial—an auto-da-fe. They’re looking like inquisitors to prove they're right by tormenting their victims. In the Iliad, people killed the corpse of Hector, kept stabbing the dead corpse. This will backfire. Donald Trump remains very popular among Republicans. https://www.wsj.com/articles/busy-senate-to-juggle-trump-impeachment-trial-biden-agenda-11610645139?mod=hp_lead_pos2
