Image:  Video game box cover scan: bureaucracy often stultifies progress.   Veronique de Rugy, @veroderugy, @Mercatus,  Mercatus Center, in re:  Schools closed  have created a catastrophe. They need to reopen schools, have schooling five days a week with precautions. For all the vaccines to teachers here in Virginia, no talk of opening schools.  Keeping children online doesn't reduce the spread of the virus.  We keep them online because of the teachers. There are no student athletes, and they can never recover.  Effectively, school ended in March; almost a year with no sports, no instruction. It's tragic.  Congress passed almost a trillion-dollar stimulus bill; now we learn of another $2 trillion.   This is all debt. Deficit spending comes from the real economy.  There’s no free lunch. Today’s young people will grow up to inherit the debt. Up to a certain level of debt, it slows down the economy. They'll have reduced economic prospects, higher taxes, a weak economy. In New York, the bureaucratic questionnaire needed to get a vaccine was 51 questions—and in Virginia  you have to prove it all. Anyone who still has faith left in government . . .   When the govt got out the way, we had the fastest vaccine development in history. It needs to get out of the way again. Amazon delivers [a zillion] packages a day; let the private sector deliver the vaccine.   https://www.creators.com/read/veronique-de-rugy/01/21/even-governments-can-make-new-years-resolutions
