Now Ridge Alkonis is behind bars in Los Angeles, serving time for a 2021 crash that left two Japanese citizens dead. Alkonis, who was stationed in Japan, says he suffered from acute altitude sickness causing him to lose control of his car before the deadly crash. Now transferred back to America, his frustrated family is asking the Biden administration to commute his sentence and let him return home.
