The United States And Russia Negotiate a Prisoner Exchange For Trevor Reed (4/27/22)

Published: April 27, 2022, 1:10 p.m.

Former Marine Trevor Reed was in custody in Moscow on charges that he endangered the life of a police officer during a drunken night out on the town in 2019. The Russian authorities went on to convict him on the crime and sentence him to up to nine years in prison. Instead, he is now on his way home after the United States and the Russian governments came to an agreement on a prisoner swap.

In exchange for Mr. Reed's freedom the United States has agreed to swap convicted drug trafficker Konstantin Yaroshenko in order to finalize the deal.
