The Al-Ahli Hospital Bombing And The Fog Of War (10/23/23)
Whenever there is a war there is also propaganda and narrative building. It's the job of the media to discern the truth from fiction. While nobody should expect the media to get it right all the time, we should expect them to not rush to judgement and to place blame before gathering all of the facts. Unfortunately, that was not the case during a recent explosion at Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza.
The story was originally framed as a targeted strike on the hopsital by the IDF and that it was direct evidence of Israel's war crimes. However, the smoke hadn't even cleared from the site of the explosion and not one single fact was gathered before the media was taking the narrative weaved by Hamas and running with it, without any independent confirmation.
