Leon Black Is In The Crosshairs Of The Senate Finance Committee Over His Dealings With Epstein (8/25/23)

Published: Aug. 25, 2023, 2 p.m.

As of my last update in September 2021, Leon Black is an American billionaire investor and the co-founder of Apollo Global Management, one of the world's largest alternative investment firms. He has had a long and successful career in the financial industry.

Leon Black's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein became a subject of public scrutiny in 2019 when it was revealed that he had maintained a professional relationship with Epstein. Jeffrey Epstein was a wealthy financier who faced criminal charges related to sex trafficking of minors and was a convicted sex offender.

Black acknowledged that he had known Epstein for many years and that he had sought Epstein's advice on personal financial matters. In October 2019, it was reported that Black had paid Epstein millions of dollars for various services, which included financial and estate planning advice. However, both Black and Apollo stated that there was no involvement of Epstein in any business or investment decisions of Apollo Global Management.

Black's association with Epstein attracted significant media attention and criticism, particularly given the serious criminal charges against Epstein. The situation led to public calls for transparency and accountability regarding their interactions and those calls are growing louder as the Senate finance committee is now demanding answers from Black about his dealigns with Epstein.
