John Wayne Gacy, also known as the "Killer Clown," was an American serial killer and sex offender. He was active in the 1970s and is responsible for the murders of at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy's double life as a successful businessman and community member in Chicago masked his dark and disturbing actions.

Gacy often lured his victims by promising them work or money, and he would then trap and restrain them. Many of his victims were subjected to sexual assault and torture before their eventual murders. Gacy's method of killing involved strangulation or asphyxiation, and he often buried his victims' bodies beneath his house or discarded them in nearby rivers.

The discovery of Gacy's crimes in 1978 shocked the nation. Law enforcement uncovered the remains of his victims in and around his property, and Gacy was arrested and subsequently convicted in 1980. He was sentenced to death and spent years appealing his conviction.

Gacy's charismatic and seemingly normal exterior contrasted starkly with the heinous acts he committed, earning him the moniker "Killer Clown" due to his involvement in local events as a volunteer clown performer at children's parties.

In 1994, John Wayne Gacy was executed by lethal injection in Illinois.
