Now they are embracing it as a political bludgeon. A little over a week ago, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the House GOP would hold a full floor vote before launching any impeachment inquiry in President Biden. Today, McCarthy flip-flopped, unilaterally announcing the opening of an inquiry anyway, despite the fact that three ongoing U.S. House probes and a five-year criminal probe by a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney failed to uncover any independently verifiable evidence of any wrongdoing by President Biden.
