As the deadly and highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus wreaks havoc across the nation, hospitalized anti-vaxxers are regretting their vaccine refusal. Florida and Texas now account for one third of all COVID cases in the U.S., with Florida leading the nation in hospitalizations and deaths, after their Republican governors prohibited businesses and local officials from reinstating indoor mask mandates and vaccine requirements. Louisiana's Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards reinstates indoor mask mandate, as Dr. Catherine O'Neal pleads with residents to get vaccinated and wear masks because the state's hospitals are running out of capacity to treat non-COVID emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes and car accidents.
