b"Buckle up for today's show: California's Court nixes statewide ballot initiative to split the state into three. Donald Trump's own Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, warns that "the system is blinking red" like it was just before the 9-11 attacks, amid Trump's head-spinning, ever-changing positions over whether Russia interfered in the 2016 election and critical US infrastructure systems, and whether it is still doing so.\\xa0 The GOP-controlled Congress refuses to take any substantive action to help protect this November's crucial elections. Just days after the FBI informed Maryland that its entire election system is housed on a private commercial server owned by a Russian oligarch tied to Putin, we have now learned that the top U.S. voting system vendor, ES+S, has been lying about remote access software and modems installed, for many years, on voting systems still used by a majority of U.S. voters. For context, we return to our exclusive report from 2011 showing Venango Co., Pennsylvania's electronic voting and tabulation system, made by ES+S, was remotely accessed by an unauthorized computer. As Kim Zetter reported earlier this week at Vice's Motherboard, the company lied to her and the New York Times, denying it included modems and remote access software. ES+S has now reversed itself in a letter to U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), admitting to installing remote access software in some systems, but has refused to respond to follow-up questions or appear at Senate hearings on U.S. election system vulnerabilities. Questions remain about which jurisdictions around the country may still feature the same easily-exploitable ES+S system flaws, and whether other election systems vendors also have similar vulnerabilities, just a little more than three months out from this November's mid-term elections. Plus, Desi Doyen joins us with the latest \\u2018Green News Report', on a new GAO report showing most of the nation's schools do not test their drinking water for lead, and the new acting EPA chief weakens rules intended to protect the water supply from toxic coal ash waste..."
