On Tuesday, an 18-year-old armed with an AR-15 style assault rifle murdered 19 schoolchildren and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Like the mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, NY ten days ago, armed security officers were unable to stop the gunman. The Uvalde shooter was able to purchase weapons of war and 400 rounds of ammo immediately after turning 18 this month, thanks to Texas Republicans, from Gov. Abbott to the state legislature to the Attorney General's office, who made it all not just possible, but easy. But America wasn't always this way. Gun violence has tragically become normalized in the US.\\xa0 We delve into the history of how we got to here, and the reaction and the fallout from America's newest horrific massacre this week. While the demons at the NRA and in the Republican party and on the GOP's stolen and packed Supreme Court all share in the blame, so do the voters who continue to elect the (mostly) Republican lawmakers who have helped to ensure these unspeakable tragedies will continue by refusing, for decades, to take any legislative action at all to prevent them.
