b"Over the weekend, at least two notable, media-related things happened: the President of the United States and the White House Chief of Staff discussed the possibility of doing away with the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment freedom of the press, and New York Times readers canceled their subscriptions in reportedly huge numbers following the first op-ed published by the paper's newest hire, a rightwing former WSJ columnist and climate science denier. We discuss both matters on today's show -- and what they may mean for the future of U.S. news gathering and reporting -- with author, journalist and longtime Philadelphia Daily News writer and blogger Will Bunch, who argues that perhaps the days of fake balance at the nation's newspapers ought to be brought to end. We also discuss what Bunch describes as the long-lasting damage Donald Trump has already brought to the nation and the Presidency, and his belief that it will take years to undo what has been wrought in just the first 100 days.
