'BradCast' 3/14/2019: (Congress begins to claw back ceded powers, rebuke Trump)

b"On today's 'BradCast':\\xa0 Congressional votes on Thursday may prove to be a landmark in a greatly overdue claw-back of Congressional powers ceded long ago to the Executive branch -- long before Trump. On Wednesday night, the GOP-controlled Senate voted once again passed a resolution to end financial support of the U.S.-backed, Saudi-led war on Yemen that has resulted in an unparalleled humanitarian crisis. It's the first Congressional rebuke of a President under the War Powers Resolution since it was adopted in 1973. Thursday morning, the Democratic-led U.S. House voted unanimously (!) on a resolution to demand the public release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's final report. The U.S. Senate also voted 59-41 (including 12 Republicans) to reject Trump's "National Emergency" declaration to steal money appropriated by Congress to the military to build his southern border wall. It's the first time since the National Emergencies Act of 1973 that Congress has exercised its option to attempt to block such a declaration. Trump has vowed to veto the resolution and there are not currently enough members in each chamber to vote to overcome Trump's decree. The matter will most likely be settled in the Supreme Court, which is very likely to rule in favor of the President given the way the act was written, ceding even more Congressional power to the Executive Branch.
