b"On today's 'BradCast':\\xa0 Remember when Republicans used to pretend to believe in things like 'personal freedoms'?\\xa0 Now that Florida's Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is preparing a presidential run in 2024, the state is getting very 20th-century German-y these days. Since his re-election in 2022, DeSantis has been on a roll, banning books, attacking teachers, punishing people and businesses for criticizing him, and more. Last week, a Florida state agency launched an effort to use new government authorities enacted by DeSantis to punish the Orlando Philharmonic for hosting a popular drag queen show. But Florida voters will now have even more difficulty holding their elected officials accountable at the ballot box, thanks to a new voter suppression law that adds severe restrictions to vote by mail in the state. The bipartisan Florida Supervisors of Elections Association argues the new law will disenfranchise many voters, increase election administration costs, and create a logistical nightmare. ION SANCHO, Florida's legendary former Leon County Supervisor of Elections, explains the many concerns about the new measure, why current election supervisors are unanimously against it, the rightwing dark money groups behind it, and unintended but substantial consequences - - like a potential 'meltdown' of the state's elections in the 2024 Presidential primary.
