b"On today's 'BradCast':\\xa0 The coronavirus and the Trump Administration's bungled response to it are wreaking havoc in global financial markets, triggering the worst week for Wall Street since the 2008 global financial crisis, amid fears that it will become a full blown pandemic. In the U.S., rightwingers like Rush Limbaugh are using our public airwaves to spread disinformation and propaganda about the virus. Slate's great court reporter MARK JOSEPH STERN joins us to explain a number of recent encouraging court rulings that will help protect the right to vote in several states. In North Carolina, two court rulings blocked the state GOP's latest attempt to enact new Photo ID voting restrictions, finding it was designed to disproportionately target minorities for suppression. In Florida, a federal Court of Appeals blocked the Republican state legislature and Governor's attempt to gut the landmark state constitutional Amendment 4, approved overwhelmingly by voters in 2018, that granted the right to vote to former felons who have completed their sentences. In Missouri, the state's Supreme Court blocked a "Catch-22" Photo ID voting restriction requiring voters without very specific photo IDs to commit a felony in order to legally cast a vote. The Missouri court also carved out a right to vote for many transgender and non-binary voters who are barred from obtaining the specific kind of photo ID required to vote. In Arizona, a court struck down two laws, passed by the state GOP legislature, for being racially motivated attempts to suppress nonwhite voters. Finally, a programming note - we will be LIVE and taking your calls both Monday and Tuesday of next week, so tune in to the live stream at KPFK.org at 6p ET/3pm PT, and give us a shout!..."
