b"The impressive students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are speaking up, marching and protesting unapologetically to demand new legislation on guns in the wake of the horrific mass school shooting at their high school in Parkland, FL. But as the calls for action mount, President Trump unleashed a Twitter rant in response today, calling for teachers to be armed across the country, following other Republicans and their paymasters at the National Rifle Association (NRA) in pushing for even more guns in our nation's schools.\\xa0 Philadelphia-area high school teacher and writer, Dina Leygerman, argues that the current generation of high schoolers across the country may well save us all. Leygerman weighs in on the idea of arming teachers with guns, and also tells the story, detailed in her recent Medium article, of how an interactive experiment she runs while teaching George Orwell's '1984' -- basically turning her classroom into an Orwellian totalitarian regime \\u2013 received a very different response from her students this year compared to previous years. The students were having none of it, and organized with their classmates in rebellion. Leygerman joins us for what turns out to be a very hopeful segment, as she explains what happened and why. Also today:\\xa0 new indictments are filed by Robert Mueller's Special Counsel probe against former Donald Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates. The Republican Chair of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), the only federal agency charged with voting machine security, has been suddenly pushed out by House Speaker Paul Ryan and the White House, for unknown reasons. Missouri's new "family values" Republican Governor Eric Greitens has been indicted on felony charges related to allegations that he threatened to blackmail a women with whom he was having an affair.
