b"On today's show: Los Angeles teachers strike ends with a new contract, increased pay and reduced class sizes. New polls show President Trump's approval numbers plummeting over his federal government shutdown. After the Trump insisted he was coming to Congress to deliver his State of the Union address, House Speaker Pelosi officially postponed his speech until after the government reopens. Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen cancelled his scheduled public testimony before the U.S. House Oversight Committee in response to the President's attempts to intimidate him by calling for his family members to be investigated. North Carolina's 9th Congressional District seat remains vacant after a state judge refused to order the certification of Republican candidate Mark Harris, amid an ongoing investigation into absentee ballot fraud by a GOP contractor. The State Election Board referred the contractor to Trump's U.S. Attorney in the state in 2017, but no action was ever taken despite the mountain of evidence of actual election fraud discovered by the Board. The U.S. Attorney in North Carolina instead was busy investigating a handful of alleged cases of non-citizen voting. Kansas state lawmakers have begun to roll back some of the powers they granted to disgraced former Kansas Sec. of State and \\u201cvote fraud\\u201d fraudster, Kris Kobach. Also today: we note that Republicans supporting the President's demands for billions for a border wall have never demanded Trump explain how he plans to pay for it, contradicting their claims that we can't afford money for healthcare, education, etc., without drastic spending cuts elsewhere. Plus a noteworthy observation by HBO's Bill Maher on what Americans should really be learning from the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history."
