The bipartisan U.S. House Select Committee investigating the Donald Trump-incited January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol and his attempt to steal the 2020 election has reportedly shifted focus, and is now considering criminal referrals to the Justice Department. Far-right House Republican Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) has rejected the committee's request to testify voluntarily, and the committee has now requested key Trump ally Jim Jordan (R-OH), who admitted to having had multiple conversations with the disgraced former president on Jan. 6 and in the weeks preceding it, to testify, as well. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reports that the U.S. economy is 'booming', set to 'expand by more than 7 percent annualized in the final three months of the year,' far outpacing Europe and Asia. Volume at major U.S. ports is 'leaping ahead' of Europe and Asian ports. Unemployment is falling to lows not seen in decades, and wages are growing faster than Europe and pre-pandemic rates. But the corporate media is downplaying or outright ignoring positive economic news, and is instead obsessed with inflation and falling public approval ratings for Joe Biden's handling of what is objectively a booming economy.
