This week, the U.S. Government released the Fifth Annual Climate Assessment, a comprehensive report detailing how climate-intensified disasters are already affecting every county in the nation, costing the US on average $150 billion a year. The new Assessment is also hopeful, describing how communities are ramping up climate action, and the vast array of existing tools to cut pollution and build resilience. Also this week, the U.S. and China agreed to work together to displace fossil fuels by tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030.
