b"On today's 'BradCast':\\xa0 With devastation from Florida to Ukraine, the stakes couldn't be higher for our upcoming midterm elections. The horrifying death toll from last week's climate change-fueled Hurricane Ian continues to rise, along with growing questions about why state officials delayed issuing evacuation orders, and how storm victims will be able to vote.\\xa0 Russia unlawfully annexed four regions in Eastern Ukraine, as Russia's military offensive continues to collapse and Vladimir Putin faces growing unrest at home after announcing the forced draft of Russians to fight in Putin's war in Ukraine. In Brazil, the nation's former leftist President known simply as 'Lula' won more votes than far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, but the contest is headed to a runoff. Pre-election polls showed Lula winning outright, which should serve as another warning for U.S. voters before our own critical midterm elections in just 35 days. Government affairs and ethics lobbyist CRAIG HOLMAN of Public Citizen explains new legislation to stop grotesque conflicts of interest by members of Congress and deliver some long overdue accountability, after several members were caught (and convicted) of trading on inside information not available to the public. The new law would bar members and their direct family members from buying and selling stocks, and require them to divest their portfolios. President Biden traveled to Puerto Rico, still reeling from the devastation caused by Hurricane Fiona, and vowed that the federal government will remain there 'as long as it takes' to rebuild the island for climate resilience."
