b"On today's 'BradCast':\\xa0\\xa0 It's difficult to keep up with the roller coaster of federal court rulings on voting rights, as the Trump Campaign and Republican Party have sued in nearly every state to halt efforts make voting easier and safer during the pandemic. Lower federal courts have often upheld expansion of voting access, only to be overturned at the appellate and Supreme Court levels, often in deference to state legislatures, even when doing so will disenfranchise tens of thousands of voters in violation of federal law and the Constitution.\\xa0 University of Kentucky election law professor JOSHUA A. DOUGLAS, author of 'Vote for US: How to Take Back Our Elections and Change the Future of Voting', joins us to discuss his new op-ed asking, if courts are supposed to protect the right to vote, why aren't they? Douglas explains the troubling answers to that question, along with good suggestions for how voters can begin to correct the course of events that have allowed Republicans to pack rightwing judges across the federal judiciary. Also today:\\xa0 Donald Trump on Thursday rejected California's emergency disaster declaration for the ongoing, record wildfires across the state that have burned more than 4 million acres this year (double the previous record year) and killed 31 people. Former DHS Chief of Staff Miles Taylor says Trump privately ordered FEMA to withhold disaster aid to California because it did not vote for him. Trump abruptly reversed himself on Friday, perhaps realizing it's a bad look to withhold aid from a state that has more registered Republicans than any other in the union mere weeks before Election Day.
