'BradCast' 10/13/2020 (Amy Coney Barrett's Hypocritical, Media-Aided, Scalia-Fueled 'Originalist' Hoax)

b"On today's 'BradCast':\\xa0 On the first day of Senate confirmation hearings to pack the already-stolen US Supreme Court with Donald Trump's third nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, the Associated Press promoted Republicans' myth that the late Justice Antonin Scalia was a so-called 'originalist' who believes in 'sticking to the text of laws and the original meaning of constitutional provisions.' In fact, it's an easily provable lie. In just one example, Scalia's ruling in the 2013 case that gutted the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965, and his explanation for it during oral arguments, reveal Scalia had little concern for the strict, originalist words of the Constitution or for the rule of law. Republicans have long falsely characterized Scalia's judicial philosophy and their own pretend assertions that they oppose 'radical extremist judges' who 'legislate from the bench.'\\xa0 The fruits of the rightwing Supreme Court majority's dismantling of the Voting Rights Act are clear:\\xa0 in Georgia and Texas, voters in minority-heavy areas were forced to wait in line for as much as 11 hours on the first day of Early Voting. The long lines were aided, in part, by still-unexplained programming failures on the touchscreen Ballot Marking Device (BMD) voting system. In an Orwellian ruling, Trump-appointed appeals court judges have upheld Texas' Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's attempts to make voting as difficult as possible by arbitrarily restricting secure drop boxes. In Virginia, online voter registration was shut down across the entire state on the last day due to a technical failure. Plus Desi Doyen has our latest 'Green News Report.'"
