Location Cost Time of Year Target audience. Who do you want to connect with? learn from? I (Sarah) have been hitting edcamps more heavily lately.   Tips for Creating the Perfect Session Title Make it catchy, but also capture accurately what you will talk about. For hands-on sessions, I’ve had luck with titles that start with, “How to…” Just like in blog posts, numbers can be good. Titles should be a mix of questions and answers Identify the “pain point” that the audience member might have   Tips for Creating the Perfect Session Description Always include, “Participants will…” What they will learn and what they will DO. Match it to the overarching theme of the conference, when applicable. Keep it general enough to allow you to add the latest as things change before the actual presentation Make sure what you share is well represented by the description   Tips for Creating the Perfect Lecture Style Presentation Include audience participation as much as you can. Consider using some method of backchannel that you can check in on and scroll on the screen periodically to address audience questions or ideas. Let the audience know you will be doing so. They will be eager to participate that way.   Tips for Creating the Perfect Hands on Workshop Be sure there is “sandbox” time. Encourage participants to share their own tips and tricks. Use the expertise in the room.   Tips for Organizing Your Show Notes Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Don’t underestimate the importance of being able to do it without notes. Use mirrors. Record yourself. Ask your significant other to watch.   Examples of Session Titles “How We are Flipping the Script” = Catchy, but confusing...is it about flipped instruction (yes) or Google scripts (no)? Level Up!
