TTMIK Level 5 Lesson 1 - almost did - -(\uc73c)\u3139 \ubed4 \ud588\ub2e4

Welcome to Level 5!!! In the first lesson of Level 5, we are going to look at how to say that you \u201calmost did\u201d something or \u201cnearly did\u201d something. This is used both in situations where you \u201cwanted\u201d to do something (but only almost did it) and in situations where you \u201cdidn\u2019t want\u201d to do something and fortunately didn\u2019t do it but almost did it.

Ex) I almost lost my keys.
Ex) I almost passed the exam!

Conjugation
Verb stem + -(\uc73c)\u3139 \ubed4 \ud588\ub2e4

The word \ubed4 is a noun that describes \u201cnearly getting into a situation where something happens\u201d and in order to use a verb with \ubed4, you need to change the verb into the future tense conjugation and add \ubed4 after that.

Examples

\u2192 \uc0b4 \ubed4 \ud588\uc5b4\uc694. [sal ppeon hae-sseo-yo.] = I almost bought it.

\ubbff\ub2e4 [mit-da] = to believe
\u2192 \ubbff\uc744 \ubed4 \ud588\uc5b4\uc694. [mi-deul ppeon hae-sseo-yo.] = I almost believed it.

\uc6b8\ub2e4 [ul-da] = to cry
\u2192 \uc6b8 \ubed4 \ud588\uc5b4\uc694. [ul ppeon hae-sseo-yo.] = I almost cried.

= It was scary so I almost cried.
= I almost cried because I was scared.

= I almost lost money.
