The Florida Supreme Court is now back to full strength — since Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed two new Justices from South Florida.
Also, on today’s Sunrise:
— One of the new justices is from Jamaica; the other is the child of Cuban refugees. Hear extended comments from both as Sunrise take a deep dive into the state Supreme Court.
— DeSantis says the state will appeal the decision of a Tallahassee federal judge who overturned Florida’s new law that says former felons have to pay all their old legal debts before their voting rights can be restored.
— The Governor is also inviting the Republican National Committee to move their nominating convention to Florida after Donald Trump suggested they would bail on North Carolina because the state has imposed too many restrictions to try to limit the spread of COVID-19.
— As Florida goes back to work, the state is being sued over failures in the unemployment compensation system. Tallahassee Circuit Judge John Cooper heard from several Floridians still waiting to get their first check — and he didn’t offer them much hope.
— And the latest on two people who are the spitting image of Florida Man: not exactly great expectations — more like expectorations.
