EP 187 Running myths and the most overlooked important parts of your training

Published: Sept. 30, 2024, 8 a.m.

Michaela is a nurse by degree, certified run coach, and cofounder of Strides for Strength run coaching.

She is passionate about combining her science knowledge and passion for health and well-being blended together to help athletes reach their full potential on the run and beyond, while always keeping longevity in mind.

Her favorite type of athletes to work with are first time marathoners, there is something so special about the edge you find and the person you become in the process. She says a lot - it’s about running & it’s not about running at all. Running can be life’s greatest teacher if you truly just show up and let it.

When she’s not running she’s probably on a hike with her dog or doing anything to spend time outdoors.

In this episode we talk about:

 • Marathon training
 • Over training + over doing it
 • Seasons of life
 • The wall is bullshit
 • Intra race and fueling in general
 • Sodium while working out
 • Nurses on the run (not just for nurses)
 • How to know if you’re over doing it
 • How Michaela got started running
 • What does bad training look like?
 • Sodium goals per hour
