S1 Ep1: SBTB, Episode 1: Where There's Smoke, There's Mourinho?

Published: Nov. 4, 2019, 7:58 p.m.

Episode 10 of SBTB considers the way forward for Arsenal Football Club after a third disappointing draw in the last month which saw the club squander a late lead with questionable lineups and late match substitutions.

It's become clear that manager Unai Emery's control over his locker room has become more tenuous by the week, with rumors swirling post Wolves, a 1-1 draw, the clubs 5th this young season against only four victories that one Jose Mourinho was quietly campaigning to be the next club manager. An initial set of rumors placed him in dinner with club President Raul Sanllehi in the past week, which a raft of new rumors Sunday morning sought to shoot down those stories, claiming Sanllehi and Jose had not been in contact "in years."

Podcasters Dean, Freddie and Rafael attempt to sort through the rumors and find where the truth may lie, if it's possible to tease out the truth at all, given the discord and confusion surrounding the team. They then revisit Emery's confusing late-game strategy against Wolves and wonder which Unai will appear for this weekend's critical away match at Leicester City, and which team that Unai will field.

The pod team then look at the possible long-term damage the club could incur if it waits too long to make needed changes and finally, given their takes on possible outcomes from the game.  It does appear changes are in the offing at Arsenal, but how soon?  And with whom?
