Episode 7: We Need to Talk About Emery, Part II

Episode 7 of Saved By the Bellerin is really Episode 2 of the pod's review of the problems the crew sees with Manager Unai Emery's style.  

They note how the managers bad qualities persisted, even though the club won both of its contests during the week.  Dean, Sammy, Freddie and Rafael look at the continued confusion in the midfield, where the selections look random; the continued struggles for captain Granit Xhaka and the seeming over-reliance on older veterans on the back line, which productive players like Callum Chambers has seen relatively little playing time.  

The gents ponder the news that Emery might be junking his five man captaincy and ponder what makes an ideal Arsenal captain and who on the current squad best fills that role?  They then break down Arsenal's 5-0 win over Nottingham Forrest in the Carabao Cup, a match where several youngsters featured. Sammy looks at the different Lucas Torreira made as the club's holding midfielder, and how his style is more conducive to an attacking style of play than Xhaka's.  

Freddie ponders why the manager seems to be freezing Mesut Ozil out of the weekly rotation and Dean looks at the effect Freddie Ljungberg has had on the club's younger players since his promotion from being the Under-23 squad's manager. The pod ends with the team pondering possible lineups for the away match against United at Old Trafford this coming Monday and each gives his prediction.  Finally, Freddie and Dean give their two cents on the wild rumor that Arsene Wenger may be considering the manager's role at Manchester United.
