The Kindest Coefficient?

In this episode of STL's Arsenal Podcast "Saved by the Bellerin" Sam, Ryan and Rafael parse a headline that emerged this week in the Italian press claiming UEFA has recommended using its club coefficient formula for deciding Champions League and Europa League contenders for next year's tournaments should European League seasons be cancelled by the coronavirus. That system would benefit Arsenal, who rank 4th among Premier League clubs in UEFA's 2019-2020 rankings. Would this benefit guarantee that Pierre Aubameyang would remain with the club? Sam and Ryan look at one scenario that would keep him in London and another that could see him look elsewhere. The team consider striker candidates to replace Aubameyang, who has carried the club's road scoring the last two seasons. They then review new transfer targets not discussed in last week's podcast, and finish by reviewing reports that much of the club has agreed to 12.5% deferrals in pay during the Covid-19 shutdown. Is this evidence of a club that's tight and behind its new manager, or is this a possible sign of disarray in the locker room? Listen to find out!
