The knives were out for Sarriball, following on from the shocking 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday night, but what the best cure for any sports fanatic? A win. And a big win at that. Chelsea rolled back home with their tails between their legs after that defeat in midweek to be greeted by the Premier League’s bottom club, Huddersfield, who honestly looked to be the worst team in the top division by far. The Blues didn’t want to mess around in front of their own fans, and new signing Gonzalo Higuain made the perfect start in front of his new followers, opening the scoring with a brilliantly timed run onto a Kante pass, before smashing the ball into the roof of the Huddersfield net. Eden Hazard added a penalty just before half-time after Azpilicueta had been brought down on the edge of the box. Everything was looking good after 45 minutes. Normality had been restored to Stamford Bridge, and after the Man of the Match, Eden Hazard had added Chelsea’s third goal, Higuain stepped up once again to blast a shot from outside the penalty area into the roof of the Huddersfield net, to a standing ovation. Finally, Chelsea playmaker and general good guy David Luiz managed to get onto a Willian corner, and his header was heavily deflected into the net by a Huddersfield defender to make it 5-0 to the Blues. Questions still need to be answered, perhaps now even more than ever, as how can the same bunch of footballers keep hitting hot and cold? Sarri keeps talking about mentality, and how he needs to work with his players on that side of the game, but surely these players have been around long enough now to motivate themselves in difficult situations, and with matches against Manchester City, Malmo, Manchester United and Spurs all coming up this month, now may be the best time for the squad to get together and finally sort this mess out.
