The Super Bowl is here! Minneapolis is the host city for the Super Bowl, and the first in a series of Super Bowl related podcasts begins with MN Native Caleb Truax. Truax was an All-Conference football player at Osseo High School, just northwest of Minneapolis. A walk-on at Virginia State University, Caleb wasnt able to play collegiate football due to a lingering left knee injury, so he returned home and enrolled at the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a degree in political science. Needing to fulfill his competitive spirit, Caleb saw a Tough Man competition ad in the City Pages. Though he lost his first fight, Caleb was hooked and started to train as a boxer. During an illustrious 3 1/2 year amateur boxing career, Caleb was the 2006 Upper Midwest Golden Gloves champion and won the USA Boxing titles for Minnesota and the region. After turning pro in April 2007, Caleb won his first 18 matches. On Dec. 9, 2017, Caleb scored arguably the biggest upset of the year, earning a majority decision over Olympic champion James DeGale. Now the IBF Super Middleweight champion, Calebs adviser Al Haymon, whose clients also includes Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Deontay Wilder, is lining up his first title defense.
