In segment one of today\\u2019s episode, I talk about one of the hardest parts of my own journey through the healing of my trauma: reflecting on my own parenting before I started to heal.

\\n

For most of us, becoming a parent can be the catalyst for change and healing from our own trauma and cptsd.

\\n

By definition, this means that we were parents before we started the healing journey.

\\n

By definition, this means that we most likely repeated patterns of trauma - perhaps even the abuse and neglect that hurt us so much as children - with our kids.

\\n

The shame and guilt involved with this can be crushing.

\\n

And today I tell you how mindfulness and self-compassion can help so much.

\\n

In segment two, I explore another key aspect and symptom of cptsd: the propensity we have toward angry outbursts.

\\n

As I mention, it is hard to overstate the negative and dangerous impact chronic anger has on our bodies, not to mention the havoc it wreaks on our relationships!

\\n

But when we can hold our anger and resentment in the loving awareness of mindfulness, we come to understand that it is an act of self-compassion to forgive those who are the object of our anger.

\\n

This realization can be life-changing and I hope today\\u2019s episode helps you to arrive at it:

\\n

If you would like to learn more about these practices I talk about, I encourage you to get in touch.

\\n

Some people are well capable of developing these skills on their own, but most of us need a little guidance, motivation, and accountability in order to stick with it long enough for the skills to take root as habits.

\\n

If you feel like you could use some coaching, your first session is on me.
