EP 574: How to Raise Your Baseline of Happiness and Well Being

We all have a baseline of happiness to which we return when the emotional reaction to an experience wears off.

\\n

When we get the latest iPhone, we experience euphoric happiness for a time but then the newness wears off and we return back to our baseline position.

\\n

Likewise, when we experience a loss of some kind, we will succumb to the heavy sadness as we reckon with what\\u2019s happened. But sooner or later this too wears off and we return to that same baseline of happiness.

\\n

Here\\u2019s the thing: this baseline is not static.

\\n

It is moveable. Meaning, we can elevate this baseline of happiness and well-being so that in the absence of anything \\u2018good\\u2019 or \\u2018bad\\u2019 we will dwell in lovely happiness and well-being.

\\n

The way to elevate this baseline, believe it or not, is through deepened awareness of the process of our mind. I explain it all in today\\u2019s episode:
