Our brains crave the familiar.

Such a simple sentence, yet there is so much to unpack!

Because the confounding aspect of that statement is that the brain craves the familiar even when the familiar is uncomfortable or detrimental to our well being.

In today’s episode, I talk about why our brains do this and the effects (positive and negative) that result.

Mindfulness is all about bringing intentional presence to what it is we’re doing.

It’s about sensing, in real time, that this familiar thing we’re doing is not serving us.

And this can only happen when we pay attention.

In today’s episode, I offer a few very simple practices you can do, today, to help train your mind to take over for the automatic behavior of the brain and be present with all you do all day.

Once you train yourself to be present in this way, you can be happy for no reason!
