Like many people, I grew up believing that forgiveness was a sign of weakness.

I believed that forgiving someone for hurting me was tantamount to allowing them to hurt me again.

Furthermore, I believed that by holding onto the anger for this person, I would somehow gain some retribution.

By holding onto the anger, I would give this person their comeuppance.

I know now, through very real medical and scientific evidence, that the complete opposite is true - that, in fact, by holding onto the anger and resentment, I was only hurting myself, physically and emotionally.

(Not to mention the suffering I caused to my friends and loved ones in the process!)

But it was one day, five years ago, that this lesson came full circle for me and it was one of the biggest lessons I’d ever learned.

If you’re interested in the whole story, you can watch the full video I posted to my YouTube channel today.

If you have someone in your life you feel like you can’t forgive - even if that person is you - I invite you to spend a few moments today and consider forgiving them.

No other action is necessary.

Just close your eyes for a minute or two and imagine forgiving this person and see how it feels.
