One of the greatest tools we have to regulate our response to an emotional trigger is The Pause.
\\nWhen we pause for a few moments, we reclaim our power and shift from reaction to response.
\\nOf course, self awareness is still key to regulation, so the formal and informal meditation practices are incredibly valuable.
\\nBut training ourselves to pause is a wonderful companion to awareness.
\\nTraining yourself in this counterintuitive skill is as easy as setting a timer to go off a few times each day.
\\nWhen the timer sounds, simply stop what you\\u2019re doing for as little as a few seconds and bring awareness to your body, your thoughts, and your emotions.
\\nDo this every day for about a month and it will become a very beneficial habit.
