Left unchecked, our thoughts will fuel and propel our emotions to the point that we become susceptible to reactivity or angry intention.

Sometimes, of course, anger is appropriate and effective.

\\n

But many times it\\u2019s not.

\\n

And this is what regulation is all about.

\\n

When we are regulated, we are in control of whether we let our anger blossom or not, depending on our own assessment of the given situation.

\\n

The key to regulation - that is, the very source of regulation - is awareness.

\\n

Only when we are aware of the building momentum between our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations can we have any hope of properly regulating the whole process for the benefit of ourselves and those around us.
