The core benefit of mindfulness - the practice of paying attention to our unfolding experience without judgment - is the ability to regulate our emotions.

The emotions start in the body and enter the brain from the bottom up.   

\\n

Mindfulness helps to strengthen the top-level, executive functioning of our brain, resulting in a top-down regulation and a vertical integration.   

\\n

The result is the ability to clearly see the emotions we feel while inhibiting our automatic reactions to them.
