Most people, understandably, view forgiveness as a form of weakness.
\\n
\\nOr they equate forgiveness with granting license to someone to harm us in some way.
\\n
\\nBut the reality is that forgiveness is the opposite of weakness and it has nothing to do with another person's actions.
\\n
\\nIn fact, forgiveness is an act of self-compassion.
\\n
\\nIt is a means of releasing ourselves of the burden of resentment, anger, or vengeance we feel for another person as a result of something that has happened in the past.
\\n
\\nIn other words, forgiveness is something we do for ourselves. Not for another.
\\n
\\nIt is very closely tied to our stress levels and has enormous impact on our emotional and physical well being.
\\n
\\nAs we practice compassion, for ourselves and for others, forgiveness becomes more readily available to us.
\\n
\\nAnd with it comes deeper connection to our children, our friends, and everyone else in our lives.
