Join Wes\\xa0 on this episode of Shaping Success With Wes Tankersley as he interviews business coach Andrew Ritterling on how he got started in his business Entrepreneur Source and how he can help others navigate their way to potentially owning their own business. Andrew and Wes met on Linkd In, and Andrew is helping Wes build up his podcast.

Andrew points out that entrepreneurship has changed in the past 20 to 30 years. In the past, there were much less entrepreneurs than today. Today there is more of a desire because people are curious of the risks vs rewards to owning your own business. Andrew says a degree is not necessary, but it can help. His clientele consists of 18 year olds wanting to get into business instead of going to college.\\xa0

Andrew owns his own business but is part of a Franchise. Andrew helps people by doing assessments of the client. He looks at who the person is and the financial situation they are in and where they want to be. This will help to see if owning a business is right for the client. There are a few factors to consider. Student loan debt is a real concern especially if the degree earned is not used. Would learning a trade to help people with everyday living be the way to go? If it is determined that owning a business is the right fit, Andrew will look at what the person enjoys, their goals, and their behavior.\\xa0 He will see if the client should start his own business from the bottom up or become part of a franchise. A franchise is being in business for yourself but not by yourself. The franchise will help with training, support, capital, and a timeline expected to see profit. He helps people think outside the box in what kind of business they should get involved.\\xa0

Before becoming involved with Entrepreneur Source, Andrew worked for construction, door-to-door sales, and ran restaurants. There was an organization he worked for that kept laying him off and rehiring him. He had enough.\\xa0 He decided to do entrepreneurship and worked with a coach. He asked his coach how he could get into this. His wife was and continues to be very supportive. She realized he was not happy , so they talked about entrepreneurship, researched it, and prayed about it. He loves helping people and betting on himself.

Why get involved in entrepreneurship if it\\u2019s such a risk? Andrew says with working for someone else, you get a steady paycheck but have no control and can be laid off in a blink of an eye. There are no guarantees.\\xa0 In business you have control on how to manage the business. It may not have a great outcome at first.\\xa0

He regularly follows up with his clients every 6 months to see how they are doing. Everyone is different, so there might be clients that need to touch base more often than others.\\xa0
