Staff burnout sees Auckland A&E cut overnight service

A busy, 24-hour accident and medical centre in Auckland will stop its overnight service because staff can't cope with a spike in demand. East Care Accident and Medical in Botany began offering an overnight service 24 years ago. But it will now close between 11pm and 7am. The change comes as Counties Manukau DHB warns that Middlemore Hospital's Emergency Department is nearing capacity. Gordon Armstrong is the chief executive of East Care Group.
