Pressure is mounting on management at the Ports of Auckland after a number of workers expressed fears about their safety. Some stevedores have told RNZ the need to clear freight quickly has added further stress to a workplace where there has been three deaths since 2017. An Auckland Council led safety review into the port is due to be released in the coming weeks - it was launched after a death last August. Maritime Union spokesperson Craig Harrison says workers are worried that the new automated cranes aren't safe. Ports of Auckland has refused to comment. Auckland mayor Phil Goff spoke to Susie Ferguson.
